The Gold Coast is now equipped to host some of the world’s most iconic events– Cameron Hart, CEO Events Management Queensland
We are Australia’s next big event city with emphasis on growing the Gold Coasts reputation in hosting hallmark events. As the host of Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, TV Week Logies host from 2018 and beyond, we know how to put on a show.
We play host to an array of cultural events like the annual Blues on Broadbeach, Bleach* Festival, Swell Sculpture Festival and Gold Coast Film Festival, with Eurovision – Australia Decides being hosted on the coast in 2019.
City of Gold Coast is a proud recipient of an IFEA World Festival and Event City Award for 2017. The award recognises local environments that put on world class festivals and events.
We host more than 900 events annually, boosting more than $200 million into the local economy.
Our enhanced connectivity, venues and facilitates have provided the platform to attract major events from across the globe.
Post Games, our City venues were booked and in use for months after the event left the city. In 2018, the Gold Coast’s major sporting venues hosted more than 164 events and functions in 2018, excluding the Commonwealth Games. This generated more than $17 million in local economic benefits.
Some of the country’s most iconic events such as Quiksilver Surfing Pro, ITU Triathlon, Gold Coast Marathon, Supercars Gold Coast 600 and the Australian PGA Golf Championships call our city home each year.
What sets the Gold Coast apart as an events destination is its location. Our balance of beachside suburbs situated along 57 kilometres of coastline and thousands of hectares of lush hinterland, provides a diversified offering to attract an endless array of event opportunities.
Working with an idyllic location, a climate that everyone desires and access to world-class venues and facilities, there has never been a better time for national and international events in the city.
We were the proud hosts of the phenomenal Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games – the biggest sporting event ever held in a regional city – with 6600 athletes and officials in attendance.
